Important Notice: Consumable Digital Services
All resume scans, AI keyword extractions, and job searches provided by The Cognitive Index are consumable digital services. Once initiated, these services are immediately and irreversibly consumed. All sales are final.
1. No Refunds Policy
Due to the nature of our consumable digital services, all sales are final. When you initiate a resume scan or job search:
- Third-party API costs are immediately incurred
- Server-side processing cannot be reversed
- The digital service is fully consumed upon initiation
- No "return" or "undo" is technically possible
By subscribing to The Cognitive Index, you acknowledge and accept this no-refund policy.
2. What Does NOT Qualify for a Refund
No refunds, prorations, or credits will be issued for:
- Dissatisfaction with results - Including job matches, AI recommendations, or search outcomes
- "0 jobs found" outcomes - A search returning zero results is a completed service, not a failure
- AI keyword interpretation - If you disagree with how AI analyzed your resume
- Failure to use weekly quotas - Unused searches are forfeited
- Unused quota rollover - Quota does not carry over between periods
- Third-party platform issues - If job platforms are unavailable or listings are expired
- Early cancellation - Canceling before your billing period ends
- Duplicate purchases - If you accidentally purchase multiple times
- Change of mind - If you decide you no longer want the service
3. Narrow Refund Exception
Refunds may be issued only if ALL of the following conditions are met:
- You were successfully charged for a subscription
- No server-side attempt was made to process or retrieve data
- The failure was due to a verified internal system failure (e.g., database outage on our end)
- You report the issue within 24 hours of the charge
Explicitly NOT qualifying as system failures:
- A search returning "0 jobs found"
- Third-party API downtime or rate limiting
- Blocked scraping or access restrictions by external platforms
- Slow response times or processing delays
- Job listings that are expired, filled, or no longer available
4. Subscription Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard or the Stripe billing portal. Upon cancellation:
- Access continues until the end of your current billing period
- No partial refunds for unused days
- Unused quota is forfeited
- No future charges will occur
5. Chargeback Policy
Filing a chargeback or payment dispute for services that were legitimately provided is considered fraud and a violation of our Terms of Service.
Consequences of illegitimate chargebacks:
- Immediate account termination without prior notice
- Permanent ban from The Cognitive Index platform
- Collection action for disputed amounts plus administrative fees
- Reporting to fraud prevention databases
If you have a legitimate billing concern, you must contact our support team at cognitiveindex@gmail.com before initiating any dispute with your bank or payment provider.
6. Free Trial Terms
If you sign up for a free trial:
- You must provide valid payment information to start the trial
- You may cancel at any time during the trial period at no charge
- If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged automatically
- After the trial ends and payment is processed, the no-refund policy applies
7. Account Abuse and Termination
Any attempt to abuse our systems results in immediate termination without refund:
- Using scripts, bots, or automation to bypass quotas
- Creating multiple accounts to obtain additional searches
- Sharing account credentials
- Engaging in fraudulent activity
- Violating our Terms of Service
